We in FFC encompass, represent, and are made up of all walks of Christianity. Our members are Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists, Episcopalians, non-denominationals, and pretty much every other group of Christians. Being so broad in scope it has been difficult to codify the core beliefs of Fans For Christ as a group. However, we also seek to be strong, devoted followers of Jesus Christ and never want to deny Him or our belief in God. We also have people who ask what we believe, something commonly called a "statement of faith". In the interest in standing firmly on our beliefs and faith in Christ and separating ourselves from those who are CINO (Christians in name only), we have adopted a statement of our particular beliefs.
Many who read this will quickly recognize it as the Nicene Creed, first written in the 4th century AD as a way to define the true tenets of the Christian faith. Since then it has become the most widely used profession of faith in Christian liturgy. It has been normative for practically every aspect of Christianity, including the Catholic Church, Anglican Communion, Protestant, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Church of the East. Many consider it to form the mainstream definition of Christianity.
Because of its simple yet profound and basic statements, as well as its acceptance by all mainstream Christian denominations, churches, and sects, the leaders of Fans For Christ have adopted this creed as the basis of belief for our own group.
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father [and the Son].
With the Father and the Son
he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. AMEN.
